Orange Spiced Cranberry Sauce

During holiday time crunches, it’s nice to know there are some side dishes you can make easily, and even ahead of time. This is a tasty alternative to standard holiday cranberry sauce. There’s no cooking involved, it takes only minutes, and it even has real oranges in it (from marmalade).

One 16-ounce can whole berry cranberry sauce
3/4 cup orange marmalade (easier to stir at room temperature)
     1 teaspoon bottled lime juice
     1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
     1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
     1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
     1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Empty cranberry sauce into a medium-sized mixing bowl. If the marmalade is cold, let it sit out for an hour or heat it in the microwave for about 10 to 15 seconds on high. Combine all ingredients in the bowl, stirring until well mixed. Serve immediately, or chill in the refrigerator for later.
