Cranberry Yogurt Whip

This is a recipe I developed by adapting the recipe for mango lassi, a traditional Indian beverage. However, I find cranberry sauce to be very sweet, so I have sugar as an optional ingredient. If it’s for kids, they’ll probably want sugar. You could also add vanilla ice cream to make a milk shake. Keep this drink in mind during the holidays – use nonfat yogurt and it’ll be one treat that’s not half bad for you.

One 16-ounce can whole berry cranberry sauce
3 cups plain yogurt (32 ounces)

1/4 cup sugar (optional)
2 cups crushed ice* (see Note)

Process the cranberry sauce in the blender until it’s no longer jellied. Add remaining ingredients and process until smooth.

Serves 6

Note: If you don’t have a refrigerator with a crushed ice function, first process ice with your blender until you get 2 cups’ worth.
